DID YOU KNOW THAT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN SPENDS 8-10 MINUTES IN THE SHOWER EVERY DAY? SOMETIMES 2-3 TIMES A DAY. With our current population here in the states, imagine how much water that is each and every day!!! WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING IN THERE???
Having worked in the beauty industry for nearly 2 decades, it has occurred to me over the years how much water, power, and other resources we use in the salon. It is a full time job for me to actually use up resources. From water, to chemicals, to foils, to power, I can't even begin to imagine how much I have used and wasted over the years. The more environmentally conscious we become as a people, the more aware of this I am becoming myself.
THEREFORE, I SET UP WHAT I CALL 3 MINUTE THURSDAYS.
If everyone, everywhere, could focus on cutting those 8-10 minute showers down to just 3 minutes every Thursday, what an awareness that would raise for us. Already we're dealing with polluted waterways, concerns about water flow, recent droughts in the southeast, and so many other issues that not only affect us as a country, but as a planet. Now I'm not saying to set your timers (unless you want to), or that you should do this every day (unless you want to) but I am saying that just this little jingle in your head
3 MINUTE THURSDAYS
3 MINUTE THURSDAYS
3 MINUTE THURSDAYS
3 MINUTE THURSDAYS
It's actually quite catchy.
Gentlemen: Did you know you can save a gallon and a half of water when you shave or brush your teeth simply by turning off the water while you do so?
Ladies: When you wash your face at night, don't let the water run while you're lathering away. Turn it off.
Parents: Rather than letting your children use the shower hoses for fun, give them water toys or bubbles & let them go outside. They'll use less water, they'll get some exercise, and they'll actually rest better at night.
GOSH BILLY'S ON A SOAP BOX, WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH BEAUTY???
It has everything to do with beauty. It's about this big beautiful planet we live on, and that we all must be good stewards for. We weren't put here to waste, to litter, to damage or destroy this big round world. We were put here to love & care for one another, and to nurture the place we live and breathe so that it can be enjoyed by many for years to come.
Please join me in doing your part every Thursday, and every day. Maybe you don't need 2 showers on Thursdays, maybe the garden watering can be cut in half, maybe you can wash your car every other week once in a while. It takes all of us to work this out.
In heart, in peace, IN BEAUTY
