Billy Lowe shown as guest speaker for Xtreme Lashes at the NYC IBS Trade Show April 2008.What a hot trade show in NYC. These shows always get me so excited because it's about what's new, what's hot, what's next in the beauty industry. As Xtreme Lashes' guest speaker, it was such an awesome opportunity to meet colleagues and trades people I haven't seen in ages.
So what is new? What is next, and what is happening in the beauty industry this season? There was a large focus on hair extensions, eyelash extensions, and air-brush tanning. More and more companies are being formed to target this area of the marketplace. There was definitely a noticeable difference in the brands, however, and it's true that you do indeed get what you pay for. The higher end products obviously have more dollars and time to spend on research, development, sampling, etc of their products prior to putting things on shelves. My message to consumers: DON'T CUT CORNERS WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING FOR QUALITY. Ultimately the product won't last as long, it won't look as good, or it won't function as well. I would much rather spend $45 on a hair brush and know it's going to last me for 2-3 years, than $5 on one whose bristles fall out constantly or don't keep their shape.
Another HOT HOT product this season was press on eye-shadow.
The brand is called Color On. The packets are simple; it's similar to temporary tattoos, but comes in various colors, shapes, shades, designs, etc. You simply press the paper onto your upper eyelid, and then lift it away. The results were brilliantly beautiful shadows that were easy to apply. Check them out at http://www.coloronpro.com/ for more information.Stay tuned for more information as the Vegas show is happening in June and we'll have many more updates on what's happening this summer in the world of beauty from the trade shows.
Enjoy,
Billy Lowe
